CBS will be advertising its fall TV season with a video-chip ad embedded in an issue of Entertainment Weekly. The September 18 issue of the magazine will feature the first video ad to appear in print. The ad will be launched in partnership with Pepsi to promote Pepsi Max soda and the TV network's Monday prime-time lineup. Not everyone will be seeing it: the ad will appear in a magazine insert sent to subscribers in the New York and Los Angeles areas -- an edition without the video chip will be sent to subscribers elsewhere and show up on newsstands. The technology for the battery-powered ads was manufactured by a Los Angeles-based company called Americhip, and each ad can handle about 40 minutes of video.

SURPRISING DANGERS OF EVERYDAY TASKS

• Let's start with brushing your teeth. Doing it twice a day can help keep your dental visits to a minimum. According to a study from Newcastle University, brushing several times a day, especially if you use a lot of pressure and brush vigorously for more than two minutes, can permanently damage the protective layer over your teeth and gums. This can lead to sensitivity, receding gums and periodontal disease.

• Then there's exercising. Working out for 30 minutes at least three times a week can help ward off disease, keep you energized and banish excess pounds. However, if you work out for one to two hours on most days, or more than once a day, experts call that "compulsive" and you need to cut back. Permanent damage to bones, muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons can result when the body isn't allowed to rest and heal.

• What about caffeine? A morning cup of coffee doesn't just wake you up. According to a study from the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research, it may also lower your risk of Alzheimer's disease by keeping your cholesterol levels in check -- which is associated with the disease. That doesn't mean you should chug coffee all day long. One cup a day helps prevent Alzheimer's -- but more than three cups can result in anxiety, headaches, nausea and sleeplessness.

• High Heels. Sure, they can add pizazz to an outfit, but a study by Yale-New Haven Hospital finds that shoes with a 2-inch heel or higher can lead to orthopedic problems in the ankles and knees later in life. In fact, surgeons perform 300,000 artificial knee replacements each year due to osteoarthritis - a knee condition linked to wearing high heels. So, if you're constantly on your feet, play it safe by wearing heels that are less than three-quarters of an inch.
