The perfect summation of the summer of 2010.

Four Chester, VA sisters are faced the daunting task of restoring their shattered family and continuing with their young lives after losing both their parents at once. (Father killed mother, he's in jail) The River's Bend community have gotten together to help the sisters, ages 24, 20, 19 and 14 to move on with their lives. They have organized a yard sale and car wash August 21 at Elizabeth Davis Middle School from 8am to noon. For more information or to make a direct donation, visit www.parkerfamilyfund.com. If you would like to help with the yard sale, contact Barbara Schecter at barbara3452@aol.com. If you would like to help in any other way, e-mail gifts@parkerfamilyfund.com.

Times are tight for the Byrd Theatre. They recently had to rework their 30-year, 1.2 million dollar loan so they're only paying the interest. Then, on July 27 vandals damaged the doors and stole what little cash was in the donation cage. Publicity surrounding the break-in spurred donations and now some creative minds have come to the rescue. Local graphics design and advertising company, JHI, has created a t-shirt design that says, "Give Richmond the Byrd," and thanks to Target Marketing, 100% of the $15.00 price is going to the Byrd Theatre Foundation. Plans are to print and sell 500 shirts at the Carrytown Watermelon Festival this Sunday. I you can't make to the festival or you go and the shirts are sold out, you can order one (or two or three) by calling 804-340-5200.

Why you never got your package. "It arrived in Phoenix, but we lost track of it after that."

It's hilarious if it's not you going through it.
